African Astronomy

Africa is home to the Nabta Playa, a stone circle that predates Stonehenge by 2000 years and is possibly the oldest astronomical site in the world.

Learn how African societies arranged stones to mark the passing of the seasons and the arrival of Monsoons.

Follow the Milky Way as we hear how it’s light led a lost hunter home and how enslaved Africans used the stars to find freedom. Join CRER and The Glasgow Science Centre as we explore the pictures and stories hidden in the stars. The Stellarium App will be used as part of the event, download the free version for your computer here: https://stellarium.org/
