Teaching the history of the 1947 Partition of British India, Scotland’s first teaching and learning programme

  • Directors Room, Merchants House Glasgow G2 1EG (map)

Nuzhat Uthmani is a primary teacher and teacher educator at the University of Stirling. She has particular expertise in global citizenship and anti-racist education. As a descendent of both Indian and Pakistani parents, Nuzhat has been acutely aware of the lack of any knowledge around the recent history of the partition of British India and the role of the British Empire in shaping that region, as well as the impact of migration from that region to the UK more widely. Nuzhat will describe the resource she is creating for schools that will address this gap in knowledge.
